ive been restoring since spring of 2014 I use Lacquer Thinner but I really don't like using these chemicals anymore I know about sand blasting but don't have the money let for that I have heard about using laundry deterdent does anyone know how this works?

If you boil the objects in paint with Tide detergent soap the paint will come off.
This usually works best with lead based paints.
You do need to boil it for some time and you will need to finish what has not come off with some fine grit paper.
Use a large pot that will NOT be used for cooking again.

What are you removing paint from? A plastic or metal? When were they made?

If it is original pre-war paint, a far less messy method of paint removal is to use TSP (trisodium phosphate). TSP can be found at paint and big box stores like Home Depot and Lowe's. Use about a half cup of TSP powder to a gallon of hot water...let it soak overnight and the paint will be gone. Use a wire brush or scouring pad to get into tough to reach areas. Rinse thoroughly before repainting.
