Hello all.   I need to paint over something made of resin, paint it in a new color.   Not having much experience with resin pieces, I'd like some informed opinions on whether or not I should prime this or whether I can go ahead with a new paint color.  Both old and new paint colors are of a relatively light shade, if that makes a difference.  (And I plan on using simple hobby store/craft acrylics)  Thanks for your help.

I'd test a small, unimportant area first before painting over the existing paint.  The reason I always prime is that I have had two bad experience with paint incompatibility that were real disasters: painted atop the existing paint (one was a resin model) and overnight the new paint ate or disturbed the old and it was a mess . . .   Once you are sure your paint is compatible you do not need to prime . . .
