New layout from scratch | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

so we are laying new floor in the house and I'm rebuilding my layout from scratch. My previous layout was a 4'x10' and I want to keep it like that. I'm debating to put a different brand of track down instead of my current fastrack that I have right now. For the theme I want it to be a southern railroad considering I live right outside of New Orleans. So probably a swamp area and all that good stuff. Post any ideas that you have.

One idea I have is to attach 2" thick styrofoam on the layout top so you can carve out a river, creek and/or a swamp into the landscape.
