I have several engines that are suppose to have Voice Control via the LionChief app. What am I not doing right? I press on the VC button but it doesn’t do anything?

You might have to give the app permission to record from the microphone.
When I tried the voice control, it didn’t work very well.
It's all about your phone for device, it's operating system, any settings, and then the lionchief app.
The app may ask for approval to use various functions of your device- microphone, GPS in some instances. Again, this is all your phone, it's operating system and security features and settings.
Again, honestly has nothing to do with the engine- this is the flaw of the entire concept of you bringing a 3rd party device, all the different flavors of OS, phone or tablet hardware, settings, versions, it's a miracle it ever works.
Gimmick.
General help tips would be:
#1 restart your phone or tablet (reboot AKA power cycle) and then attempt the app
#2 ensure any dialogs that come up when starting the app you accept or enable the feature/function being requested.
#3 remove and reinstall the app, and go through the approval process- maybe even another reboot.
#4 Last resort, try a different brand or model of phone.
#5 extreme latch ditch effort, complain to Lionel, wait for an updated version of the app.
Great suggestions! On my iPhone the voice recognition was off in the app. I’ll see if that helps👍🏻 If not a reinstall sounds like a plan.
I tried it. The app asked for permission to use the mic and something else. Forgot what. Works. Short range, and interprets go as no…usually.
Nice though. Not sure how to shut down the engine.
You cannot shut down an engine under Lionchief app bluetooth control. No such function exists.
Doesn't matter how you are controlling the app- voice mode or not- again the command does not exist for shutdown.
This is why Bluetooth is not equal to TMCC or Legacy as control tiers, Bluetooth is a lesser set of commands. You have to pay to play, that's the business model.
I tried the voice mode control testing out the Grandkids Harry Potter set. First the engine has to be connected to be available. When used, it showed the translation as feedback. Faster came out Faster, Master and even Easter at various times. I wasn't even using my Texican accent, just my neutral english voice.
Voice control may also be going to a remote server for the translation. Much of the current "voice control" software I have seen must use a remote server for the computing power. A delay often results. Voice control can work, but it is not fast.
I have been watching and testing voice control multiple times over 40 years. Sadly the voice recognition software has not advanced as I would have expected. At least not in the commercial arena.
If all else fails buy a 1950's Audio-Engineer set-up the next time you go to a Train Show/Swap Meet! Or if you can't wait, buy from the auction website. Probably more reliable, the electronics is WAYYYYYY simpler. LOL
