How about one of these?
Lionel needs to make much more O36 Legacy controlled steam engines, either scale small steam, or LionMaster big steam. LC+ doesn't cut it.

It's time for a Vision Line "Big Blow" UP GasTurbine !
I would like to see Lionel make a really nice Legacy Controlled Trolley Car, with Station Stop Announcements, and whatever other sounds that make it a fun to run people carrier.....Not TMCC like the trackmobiles, but a full functioning Trolley...This would be nice for those with tight curves and it should have directional lighting, swiveling pole, etc.....How about that for a want....
Would love to see Lionel come out with the Amtrak ACS-64 electric.
How about Amtrak's Next-Generation of High-Speed Rail.......................

It's about time America got a truly high speed train--real or model!
Like Leapin Larry's idea. They never did anything like that. Also, some SP Daylight F-3's or F-7's & a Niagara. In accessory line, how about re-issuing a better working Coal Tipple, a train station with announcements that you can choose of different cities & lastly a crossing gate with sound.
thank you (LIONEL) for agreeing on the Trolley Car, there are many neat street cars, one called Desire, so Lionel could produce several of these in different paint schemes...Add the people sitting and standing, neat announcements, all Legacy controlled....Yes to more F7's, SP Daylights, Sante Fe War Bonnets, The Niagara with all the steam effects, blow down, steam cylinder effect, etc, swinging bell. Also another fully equipped Hudson....The list goes on and on and on...They could re-introduce Legacy Budd Cars.....Wow..
Well I'm breaking my silence! It's my opinion that Lionel will generate more sales if people know what to expect, and the people should know!
To start, what I've seen on the front cover of the catalog is a scale GgywkESIopicvD...... uhhg...ooofff,,,, pow! .....SMASH... ouch!!! mmfffmmfmfmf....
......THIS IS LIONEL PRODUCT SECURITY...... WE HAVE BEEN REQUIRED TO NEUTRALIZE THIS FORUM MEMBER TO PROTECT THE UNFINALIZED VERSION OF LIONEL PRODUCTS........ TRAINDIESEL WILL BE QUARANTINED AND RETURNED TO THIS FORUM UPON CATALOG RELEASE..... WARNING!!.... CONTINUED GUESSING AND SPECULATING ON CATALOG CONTENTS WILL BE DELT WITH SWIFTLY...... RETURN TO YOUR NORMAL ACTIVITIES........

This sounds like 1984
Big brother is watching
A previous post reminds me; what about a re-release of the TMCC TrackMobile. Almost impossible to find one any more and they run on the tightest turns. Mine runs on O16 SuperStreets. I need a backup unit.
Looks like to me the people who attended the convention and will not spill the beans on the new catalog are a bunch of weenies.
HEY FOLKS THIS IS TOY TRAINS NOT THE Nuclear codes.
RM, this post may do it but Brian's may push them over the edge also.

Hi Denny: That's OK, you are always welcome at my Train Room for an Adult Beverage or we could walk down to the lake, with some Walt's Crawlers and pop some bluegills or look for a big pike. With minnows from Buck's, but we will run some Lionel Trains before and after the "Big Catch".
Gary: from the part of Michigan, with no palm trees, I think I saw some on the sunset side.

That sounds like a plan Gary. There are some fake palm trees here in town. They are by some hoity toity condos.

Did I miss Legacy Budd Cars in the recent past, or did you mean Lionel should make them for the first time?
I know for years it was a sore spot with me that they never put either TMCC or Legacy in the traditional PW style Budd Cars.
(Yes, I know 3rd Rail did scale Budd cars with TMCC in them, but this is a Lionel Catalog thread, so they don't count)

Finally listened to the Notch 6 episode with the interview with Lionel's CEO, Howard H. There is a segment in this podcast regarding the Friday Lionel LCCA Seminar, which concludes the LCCA annual convention. It's clear to me that Lionel intended an entire review of the 2017 vol. 2 to be a special treat for LCCA convention attendees. It is noted that this sort of sneak preview had never been done before, and was meant to demonstrate Lionel's special regard for LCCA members attending their annual convention, since LCCA is, after all, the official Lionel club. Interpret that as you will while awaiting Aug. 17th . I suppose if there is enough criticism, they will find some other way to let LCCA members know about the catalog contents in advance rather than just using the annual convention. Perhaps a .pdf sent to all with email addresses on file? Just a thought. Of the ten thousand or so LCCA members, most cannot or will not attend the annual convention, obviously. Perhaps the catalog could be put on the LCCA site, restricted to members?

Brian,
Are you trying to get THIS thread deleted too? The shelf-life for threads relating to the upcoming Lionel catalog is not very good.
Dvvve, Muh can tlk an tied uhhp. I ..... WHAAP!::::: uHHHHHH!!
I'm an LCCA member and I don't think there is anything wrong with giving convention attendees a sneak peak at the latest Lionel catalog. It's part of the fun of being there. I can wait until the 17th like everyone else. And I again applaud those who know for keeping it secret.
Der are ways to make you talk you dumkaufs, tell us or we will inflict much pain, sprexinse Duochey?
This Pere Marquette, Lionel Bluetooth, will be in tomorrows catalog on page 72 or 73.

Hi Grampstrains / My: L.H.S. said: October 31, 2017.
I have 4 LionChief Plus Locos on my layout, and all is well. Look forward to incorporating a Bluetooth and this Pere Marquette is a local road name in Michigan.
I hope to see them this week for an update: Gary
" I thought this catalog was going to be all new items with no re-runs?"
I don't believe that is correct. This comment was meant as a sardonic, negative comment about Lionel from one of its prominent whineries.
There will be some new items, and two new train sets, but I don't believe anyone from Lionel, or who attended the LCCA seminar has confirmed that it will be all new items.

Actually I think Ryan said this in the podcast. Of course "all new" could be items that have different paint schemes etc and not necessarily new tooling.
Over the weekend I finally got to try out the HO PE with BlueTooth. After using that I think the BlueTooth LionChief sets should be a big hit. I can see why Train Room Gary is excited about these.
"Actually I think Ryan said this in the podcast. "
I stand corrected. Will have to listen to that one soon .

Actually, that very comment in the podcast about the entire catalog featuring new products has prompted all the interest. Aside from that, we'd all just be expecting another Volume 2 catalog with little fanfare. It's the "all-new-products" comment that has folks wondering. And I think you're right... new doesn't necessarily imply all new tooling. It could simply be new SKU's ranging from recent offerings with different paint schemes to completely new items.
Whatever the case may be, that comment may have prompted some interest, but it's already old news now. By giving little to no timely follow-up, coupled with the LCCA folks saying literally nothing about the convention preview... it's got me wondering if the catalog will really have ANYTHING all that notable.
For now, it will be what it will be, and we'll see it when we see it. Hopefully, it will live up to all the pre-release hype.
The podcast said "new SKUs" referencing product SKU numbers that uniquely identify each product. We will not know how different most of these offerings are from previous products until the catalog actually comes out.
The way I interpreted the Podcast comments was that Lionel wants to even out the product announcement/delivery cycle. I doubt that this means a change in the overall R&D budget for the year, just when things are announced. Remember... "New Item" and "New Tooling" are different terms in the vernacular of Lionel catalogs. I would expect a bit of "New Tooling" with most"New Items" being new road names of existing tooling. Just like any other catalog.
Maybe I am reading the comments incorrectly, but as I best recall, in the last 5 or 6 years most every catalog had listings from the previous catalog, or sometimes earlier ones. (apart from accessories and buildings which are mostly repeats, and very few new items)
