The early-order by deadline is fast approaching at my favorite hobby store for the new MTH North Coast Limited set.

No word from MTH if they are going to dump the Sumbercoach names and numbers for the domes.

No word by cut-off date = no order.

And it was a simple question: changing them yes or no?

If no, I'd guess they are going to lose a lot of potential sales with the phony names and numbers.

It was the decision maker for us: B unit and extra cars ... no domes.

So that's one lost sale ... no big deal to MTH.

Strange that no one at MTH seems to have Googled "NP domes" ... they would have seen it immediately ... well, perhaps after looking at it for a couple of days they might have ... perhaps.

Still, seems like carelessness.

Mike's probably making his big money in the European market anyway.

Today ordered the dummy B unit, and all the separate add-on cars except the phony NP superdome.

DID NOT order the dome set with observation because we don't allow "phony car numbers/names" on sets like this which are supposed to be "accurate" ... given MTH is using Pullman-Standard domes (which are wrong for the train) instead of the Budd built domes.

No big deal.  Dealer and MTH lost a $1000 order (no diesels, no dome train ...) because MTH would not respond to queries about the numbers/names being corrected when released.

Not sure they really care ....

At least I'll have a 14-car train (peak season) and an ABBBA set WITHOUT duplicate numbers!!

And let's not even ask about the passenger announcement being the same as the previous one ....

Opportunities lost ....

That said, I'm going to go do something really important ... have another cup of fresh-ground coffee!

Kerrigan-

I have ordered the entire set. I'm hoping the numbers will be changed before production. That said...the last time MTH made a scale model of the NCL was when I was in grad school. I didn't have the funds to afford it. What were the passenger announcements on the last one? I'm hoping this one will say Butte, Montana.

I'm really a NP nut (Just ask any of the National Capital Trackers) and have hoped they would re-make this set again. The NP is not a roadname as desired as the Pennsy or NYC. So I am grateful this is being made.

For those who did not get it first time around, this is a good opportunity to add the NCL to your layout!

The word that came back from York from MTH on the dome numbers/names was "too late to change."

Hope not!

Be a shame to re-issue the set with "phoney car names and numbers" ...
