The car(3562-75) draws 10 amps when using the unloading lever on the UCS track and there is no 'vibration' of the coil.  I just replaced the coil and I have the same thing.  Is the coil supposed to be tightly screwed to the base of the car?  I checked the sliding shoes and wiring and everything looks great.   The original coil wire was broken somewhere because I got OL on the ohm meter.  The new coil read about 10 ohms.  Is this ok?  Can you check the operation without the ramp in position that the barrels rest on?  Where along the slot does the coil go?  

 

Any help would be appreciated.

TrainLarry:  You are dead on!  I was using the unload instead of uncouple.  It works great with the uncouple at around 10v.   I thought since it had sliding shoes they would be on the 2 extra rails to activate.  I thought the center portion of the UCS had to be under a coupler to make things work. You also really need to have the barrel rail installed to check this car out properly.   I keep learning.  

 

I have the Greenberg book but it does not talk about operation for this car.

You can easily check out this caar when you realize it is wired differently than most operating cars! First the sliding shoes are common, and are connected to only one end of the coil. Secondly, the other end of the col is connected to the outside rail, or the actual wheels of thecar. This alos explains your experience with the controller orf the track.
