George I have had good look with the Rust-oleum  Camouflage paints. They are a flat paint and seem to be good colors for most of the wood building kits I've done.   Note that you may have to paint both side of a wood sheet to seal it.

Here is a Photobucket slideshow of a wood kit assembly, that shows a lot of the painting I did.   Click on the underlined phrase.

I also used Miniwax stains,  Golden Oak, Dark Walnut were a couple used a lot.

Trouble with a lot of pre-paint is general adhesives tend not to penetrate the paint layer, so you may be removing paint for better adhesion/assembly.

IMO.   Have fun      Mike CT

I like to use thinned model airplane clear dope as a sealer when I'm building a wood kit. Dope is a lacquer, so I thin it with lacquer thinner (or acetone, if I'm O/S of LT). Since it is a lacquer, most other paint types can be painted over the dope, but if your finish coat is going to be a lacquer as well, it would be better sprayed than brushed on. Before sealing, be sure to clean all sanding dust off the model and especially out of any of the grooves in scribed siding (I use a dry toothbrush and compressed air).
