Tammie's Hobbies in Beaverton is a very large hobby store with a good trains section.  Also is the Whistle Stop in Portland, and The Hobby Smith in the Hollywood Distruct of Portland (which has a lot of N gauge as well as other gauges).  Coin Corner in Oregon City (just south of Portland) has a lot of Lionel and MTH, as well as one more shop located in Oregon City a block from Coin Corners.

And don't forget to visit the new Oregon Rail Heritage Center (ORHF) next to OMSI in Portland, which houses the SP4449, the SP&S 700, The ORN 197 (a Pacific) and Doyle's PA.

Bob,

Just as an FYI with the exception of Coin Corner which I have not visited in years all of the train related stores are mostly HO and N gauge with Whistle stop having more O Gauge than Tammies although if you are going to be in the area they are both worth stopping at.  Coin Corner is located in Oregon City which is Southeast of Portland just off of I-205 as all 3 stores are a ways from each other.  Whistle Stop and Coin Corner are on the Eastside of Portland with both having access from I-205.  Tammies is on the Westside of Portland located in a town called Beaverton as I live in Aloha which is about 15 minutes from Tammies.

The new Oregon Rail Heritage is definitely a must see as it is just off of I-5 and if you let me know when you might be in the area next month perhaps we could get together as I would be happy to show you around along with a visit to the Heritage center?

Anyway, enjoy your Oregon visit as I am quite sure you will enjoy our coast line.

Best Regards,

Larry Brown

Hi Bob,

I hope you enjoy your trip to the Oregon coast and Portland.  I live south of Portland near Eugene.  We have a small LHS called Eugene Toy and Hobby.  They have a selection of O gauge trains along with the usual HO, N and G scales.  If you are in the area drop me an email.  I would be more than happy to meet up with you.

Thanks for the quick responses. Checked the map and Tammies is just off the 26. We will be using hwy 26 from the coast. Heritage center, Whistle Stop, and Coin Corner are now in the plan. Re-working trip to include a full day in Portland.

Larry, not sure when exactly at this point , hopefully mid July. I will email you at the end of this month with a firm date, and maybe we can get together.

Steve, I'll be driving down the 5 onthe way back to California. I'll email you when I get a  better idea and maybe we can get together.

Thanks again for the info and take care,

Bob

Bob,

Around the corner from Coin Corner, on Main Street in Oregon City, you will find "Quality Farm Toys and Hobbies".  It's a pretty neat store, they have some O gauge but seem to specialize in G gauge.  Matter of fact, I think I am overdue for a visit myself.  The best train shop in the PNW in my opinion is Eastside Trains in Kirkland, WA.  Kirkland is about 3.25 hours by car from Portland.

Hi Bob, when next month are you planning your trip.  July is a busy month with parades, fairs, etc.  I would like to put on my calendar about when you are going to pass through Eugene on the way back to California.  Thanks.
