Postwar Paradise

I remember your layout pics…..lots of fun on those tables. Waiting for some FM goodness.

Don't get me wrong, I love modern O Gauge locomotives with their amazing command control, sounds, smoke, bells and whistles. However, occasionally I get into a Postwar State of Mind.

That happened last night and this morning:

Whenever you are in a Postwar State of Mind, and some of you are always that way, post some photos and/or videos of your Postwar trains here and tells us about them. Arnold

I love my post -war stuff.  Here is a battle scarred Lionel 2332 GG1 from 1948 hauling a short freight on The Shenandoah Short Line.

Wow Arnold, looks like in that last video your 2-6-4 temporarily became a 1-3-2 as it ripped around that corner!

Here are a couple of videos of my 1946 671 turbine hauling the MPC-era PRR FARR #5 freight consist:

She's filling in for the MPC-era 8404 turbine which was built for this last FARR set. She's also one of the very first line of locos Lionel built in the PW period. I believe mine has a shell from the 671r "electronic control" version mounted to the "regular" dual-worm drive 671 chassis. If the chassis had been a 671r, there would have been a receiver between the e-unit and smoke chamber that would have controlled the smoke bulb remotely from the "ECU-1" transmitter unit. Pretty amazing stuff for 1946!

Even with a slightly scared face, these postwar F3s are beauties and run great.

BTW - what's everybody's thoughts on replacing decals that look like this? I'd rather stick with the originals.

I may be old school, Don, but I'm with you:  I'd keep them original.

Keep the originals, Don. I've kept mine:

If you look closely, you'll also see that I had to remove and fill the holes for front grab rails that the previous owner incorrectly installed on this 2354 powered unit. Fortunately, the previous owner did not get to the "dummy" unit.

BTW, your silver paint looks great! I am a bit confused over which version your set is, however, as it appears that you have 2355 numberboards on a 2345 set.

Bill - here's a closeup I shot last December. Does this answer your question?

PW Erie Alco 2032 from 53-54 with new decals. The original decals were just about gone so I added new from the traintender runs like new.
