I foolishly purchased this used engine without testing it at the Greenberg Train Show in Richmond VA yesterday.
I've a test track and a complete loop set up. Both with voltage and running other MTH engines.
I sit the engine on the track and absolutely nothing happens. The 9 volt rechargeable battery has a charge and I tried a standard 9 volt too.
No noise/sound, lights, movement, nothing.
Any thoughts?

p.s. I'm trying to contact the seller separately but no luck so far.

Did you try to run it before checking the battery? If it has a white battery, throw it away (properly) and put in a new MTH green battery. Did it have a white battery? That is a beautiful engine. I have one I got from my forum add. I have not looked at it yet but the seller told me it had just about the same issue as yours.
If you do not do your own work, you might contact George (GGG) Galyo. He lives in your state. He will fix you up.
I did try to run it before I changed the battery. The battery is white...so I'll get the green one.
I'll contact George as I'm not much more than a run the engine kind of guy.

Woops...think I'll get the BCR instead!
Get a BCR if you want. I do not use them. The choice is yours.
I would not get a BCR. It is a 5V board and if it did not work with a good alkaline as a test it is dead and needs to be upgraded. The new board is a PS-32 with supercaps so no battery or BCR will be needed. Hope you did not pay much. G
