Hi Nicholas,

It works for some, but not all.  Most of the steam locomotives have an earlier PS3 board that, like PS2 boards, has the DSP code stored on a ROM chip that cannot be re-written from the DCS Loader program.  However, HO diesels, electrics, and some newer steam engines do have their DSP code stored on flash memory.  Part of what goes along with this hardware difference is a software difference in where the speed control algorithm is stored. PS3 boards that store the speed control separate from the sounds have greater sound file flexibility.
