I just picked up on ebay a Quaker Oats Employee train set, which came out for an anniversary for Quaker Oats (American Cereal Company).  It has the die-cast 4-4-2, a boxcar decorated like an 1800's American Cereal Company car, Gatorade tank car, 2 cabooses, track and the 40-watt transformer.

It also has some paperwork, which includes a certificate, a couple art prints and what looks like a letter describing things.

Does anyone know how many were made?  How did sets like this get offered to employees?

Promotional train sets like this always interest me, in that they're always colorful and different.

Joe,

I will post them once I get the set, that way I can get some nice detail shots of everything in the set.

I know the loco is nothing special, in that it's the basic 4-4-2 that came with the basic sets, but overall it just looks like a fun set!

Here is an ebay listing for another one that sold (and I didn't pay near as much as this one sold for!)

Here is one of the prints that's included with the set, and explains why the set has 2 cabooses (cabeese?):

There is also a print of some kind of display at a World's Fair for when the oatmeal debuted.

Actually, I'm going to look up the history of the print I linked.  Buying the set because it looked neat and would be fun to have is going to open up a new subject for me to research!

I had this set but sold it quite some time ago.  Believe there was some info in the LCCA Lion Roars as to its origins. There was also a Captain Crunch boxcar offered in late 1999, seems to be much harder to find than the set. I'll look to see if I can find any more info on the set.
