From my experience, the repro cars readily found at train shows and from parts suppliers are the ones that may be yours. Even so, some of the early repops had "Lionel" on the bottom, but not "Made in the USA". If you can find an original known-to-be Lionel auto, a side by side comparison will reveal length differences and door and fender gaps to be out of line on the repops. My wifes' 6414 from her 1955 GG1 freight set contains the originals so I have a good reference to go by. Unfortunately as always, the cars were heavily played with and busted up, bumpers missing and cars scratched.

Lionel sold modern era repops of their own made in china. I have two packs and they are very close to the originals but still imported. If anyone here knows better, please correct me.
