Question about unusual original box

I have the box for a 6464-50 Minneapolis & St Louis Boxcar where the words Minneapolis & St Louis have been darkened as to be almost unreadable. The first line on each end of the box reads "No 6464". Next line is the blackened "Minneapolis & St Louis" Third line is "S Box Car S". and the bottom line reads "50 LIONEL 50" Could this be a box from some unusual set? Any ideas??? This seems to have been done professionally but one never can be sure? Phil
