Ron,

Mine don't have sound either, but sure make "noise" going round the layout.

I've had a couple of issues with leading/trailing trucks too.  One engine I found didn't like a particular switch, found there was a dip in the layout and for some reason only this engine (MTH RK 2-8-0)  was affected.  Funny I have 2 of them and only 1 had problems.

On another one (Williams brass USRA 2-8-2) the trailing truck was hitting a piece of brass piping hanging down while going around curves, just enough to make it derail.

A third (Weaver 4-6-0) was having issues when I realized there was so much crud on the wheels it was causing the lead truck to jump.  Even running without power to the tracks it still pays to keep things clean, although I believe that power to the rails enhances the accumulation of crud, kinda like magnetizing the rails would attract it.

My daughter and 2yr old grandson came over today, I let him run my Williams E7 with the BlueRail board, using a Mad Catz bluetooth controller.  He had the thing flying around the track (had to wrestle the thing out of his hand to slow the engine down ).

A week or so ago I took him upstairs to see the trains.  2 days ago they stopped by and he didn't say a word, acted very strange.  Today he was doing the same thing so I asked him if he wanted to see the trains and that's all it took!!!

I gave him an old HO boxcar to take home, I'm sure it'll be destroyed by tomorrow night even though I told him to be careful with it.  I can see my stash of old HO rolling stock will soon be gone, I may have opened Pandora's box
