I have a New York Central Steam Engine, along with 4 Baby Madison Passenger Cars (New York Central) I think the set up I want to do is to have both passenger and cargo cars on one layout?

What do you guys think of this (having two spurs)

Also, When you have switch set ups, can you pre-program them to automatically switch each time the train goes around? Or do you need to switch it manually each time

I don't know about other types of switches, but one can use 0-22 switches to control alternate routes. Insulated rails can be used as well. Some advice may be found here:
