A friend blew up the power devices on an RCMC board. There two pairs of Mosfets on the board, LR024Z and FR5305. While I can find the FR5305s, the LR024Zs are listed as obsolete by all the major suppliers including Mouser, Digikey, Allied, and Newark. First I am surprised the device is already obsolete?? Does anyone know of a substitute? NTE is no help here.

Those components are part of the motor driver circuit. I have ran into the same issue and the same search results, I was going to look into a equivalent replacement for those parts but have not done the research yet.

You are better off replacing the whole board at this point, removing those components can also be a pain because the entire back side of those components is a heat sink which is also soldered to the RCMC board. Its not impossible just difficult and you risk pealing traces up.

It's very difficult to get those off!  I am one for two in fixing them.  In my defense, I believe the excessive heat that cooked them in the first place probably did most of the damage to the one that I wrecked getting the part off.

This looks to be pretty close: IRLR024NTRPBF.  I really doubt that there's enough difference to affect things.

I attached the data sheet for reference.  IRLR024Z-datasheetz.pdf

Good to know. Since we don't have to return the old board I think the plan will be to order a new board, then try and see if we can fix the old one. Thanks for the tips.

Thanks Chuck. Mouser was the first placed I checked. I guess I needed some more letters. I will be ordering a few, I know they have FR5305s as well.
