Anybody have ideas about repairing the front of subject FA engines where the knuckle coupler is?  There is a narrow plastic piece of the body shell, below the knuckle that invariably is cracked or missing or been cut away.

Any ideas would be appreciated.  If you know of replacement parts, the part number and vendor info would be terrific.

Thanks

Well not quite invariably. Haven't had the problem on any of mine.

But -- there is pretty easy availability of the original all-plastic, un-powered silver and black 1960s cereal premium Kusan "K Line" (not the more recent "K-Line" from North Carolina) Alco. Should be easy to cut loose the section needed and splice it into a more desired cab. Of course painting would be required.

Try the Lionel Alco Nose support 204-78.  I've used them very successfully to replace broken off pilots.

The part I dont like is the small metal tab at the bottom which protrudes a bit.  I also like to recreate the look the the stock pilot by adding a curved piece of 1/2 round plastic stock which I blend in at the corners with squadron putty.  Later tonight I'll post some pics of the part and the repair.
