This was also discussed about a month ago; I had posted something to the effect that RMT folded with Aristo-Craft, but someone posted that Walter was on his own with RMT.

I talked to Walter at the Allentown meet in February and got the impression, from our conversation, that he would have product this year.

Maybe he'll be at York and we can ask him.

Pretty sure it's the same Walter Matuch, looks like he's been helping to liquidate trains for an estate . Might be why he hasn't been around much.

I hope he and RMT will be back soon.

The last time I spoke with Walter--several weeks ago--he indicated he would not be at the April York Meet.

Bummer, that plan goes in the bucket.

I believe the company basically is Walter and his wife. I think it would be a tall task to keep up with the whole product line with the addition the old K-Line track and accessories. I wish Walter luck either way.

yea it must be alot, I would just hang tight, but I must say, after having got back into O gauge, I've really liked RMT

From the sales and all near the end I suspected there were cash-flow problems, likely considering Aristo folded, and those take a while to recover from.  I hope he does - RMT is one very cool little company. 

Give Walter a little more time and he should be back selling under the RMT name.

The last I know is that he was doing an estate sale for somebody and was selling off the model trains the person had collected. He emailed me a couple of times about buying a certain Reading Company set made by K-Line but I turned him down due to my finances, because I really would like to buy that set.

The Aristo-Craft situation, he said, was that his contract would not allow him to sell that brand after a date in December.  Aristo has now gone out of business, so I presume he was going to go after a new source.

Hope he sees this and gives us all an update.

As stated earlier, his website has not been updated since early January.

Walter was very active on this Forum last year when he was posting all of his blow out sales. Seems strange that he would not be at least updating the future for RMT.

You notice there has been no response from Walter on here. Kinda makes you wonder doesn't it.

Would you rather him be living on the forums to answer all this speculation or out working hard and running all over getting things set up to produce and sell again.

I'm sure Walter knows we like his products, so I say no news is good news.  He seems like the kind of guy that would let us know if things change and that he can't get RMT products back to market.

I'm surprised this thread hasn't disappeared like the other one.

As I stated in that other thread ....it is very possible Walter CAN"T talk right now....I know it happens in my section of the hobby all the time. In an industry this small.....you have to keep things on the down low often!

If Alan is right and Walter won't be at York, it's too bad, because he would most likely have been making a presentation at the OGR forum about the future of RMT.

Walter missed October York, too......I bought some of his estate sale trains and a friend of his delivered them to me outside the Orange Hall.

Well, RMT clearly couldn't continue to sell at the blowout prices and be a profitable company, so folks wishing for those prices again are bound to be disappointed.

Whatever is going on with Walter, I wish him well in his future ventures, whatever they may be.

During his "busy" past Walther was on here almost daily. It appears he won't be at York, he has not been here to tell us of anything he might have planned, so it still leaves us to wonder.

Yes I wish him all the best, he was top notch when it came to helping his customers.

Yeah, & making a quick post about what he honestly can or cannot say would take him what, 60 seconds?

I agree with Dave that's very possible he can't talk to us about anything right now, there might be contracts to sign that haven't been or are still in negotiation, and it's probably just easy if he waits and gives us the answers all at once. I do hope he is able to come back.

Hopefully everything will work out for RMT. I am looking forward to the new items that may come in 2014. Especially the AEC Bang!  

God forbid but perhaps Walter is sick and unable to post.  I'm more worried about him than I am about some trains.

Certainly explains why I have a bunch of IDR rolling stock as well.

Kinda makes you wonder how beneficial overseas production is for a US train manufacturer in the long run.

I stocked up on those when they were $10/ea, still have some unopened cases of them.

RMT website will be updated as soon as I have confirmation that new product has been shipped from China. I will not speculate at this time. When I know, you will know.

While online speculation may be sincere from most, errors in any comments and understanding of the RMT business model will only cause more unfounded rumors to start.

At this point, I am not planning to be at York next week, but let's see what happens for October. I wish all a safe trip.
