A great loss to the hobby. Bob Weaver literally invented the "symbiosis" of O scale (3-railer numbers combined with the detail requirements on 2-rail operators). This eventually spawned the 3RS movement we have today.

Weaver freight cars are what got me interested in the scale-sized aspect of 3-rail operation. In dealing with the cars, I learned proper weighting and the benefits of equalized trucks. I still buy them on occasion when they show up on that big auction site and probably have a few dozen in my collection

Weaver made O scale so much more interesting then it might otherwise have been.  Interesting and different diesel models than the rest of the pack and road names no one else would produce.  The 425 pieces of rolling stock and 25 diesels are many of my favorites in my collection.  His love of trains and O scale set the bar and raised the detail and quality of the entire industry.  Never had the privlidge to have met the man but Gods speed!!!

My condolences to Bob and his family. As other forumites have stated, if it wasnt for Bob Weaver and his Quality Craft model kits and his unique "then modern" and affordable O Scale freight cars, I too may have been lost and dis-intetested in the hobby which in the late 1970's and early 80's mostly focused on the 1930s-1960's time periods- before my time.

I have many plastic "one shot special kits" as well as some unique brass pieces including the highly sought after BP20s and Roy Tower.

God Bless and high ball to his new life in the after world!

Traindiesel, thanks for posting the pictures bringing back the memories of Robert (Bob) Weavers fantastic layout with those long freight trains I loved the videos of his model railroad. His company was a large reason I returned back into the hobby years ago. I have his catalogs and many of his cars. He will be remembered by so many of us in the hobby. God Bless.
