I was digging through their site a bit and it says they use 2GB of RAM when in virtualization on a Mac.  No mention of chip speed.  I would assume you are fine with any modern PC core i3 / i5 or above with at least 4 GB or RAM.  The software says it will work on an OS as old as XP which didn't require a huge amount of RAM or fast chip, so I'm assuming the software doesn't either.

Billy,

Modeling programs RRTrack, AnyRail and SCARM are all fine planning tools for most O-gauge applications. I use them all.

Other than user interface and varying levels of capability....

RRTrack $79, not downloadable, only available on CDROM, no try-before-you-buy, includes simulation capability.

AnyRail  $59, downloadable, free limited capability version (try-before-you-buy),  no simulation.

SCARM  $39, downloadable, free limited capability version (try-before-you-buy), simulation capability $29.

The screen size and resolution is the requirement that you need to use to compare today's laptops.  I spent the extra money for a 17" screen with 1920x1024 resolution.  These old eyes could tolerate anything less.   This is same resolution on a standard HDTV.  You'll find that it makes reading the numbers easier and more reliable.
