Shell Removal / Lionel ES44AC

Can anyone advise on the removal of the die-cast body shell on a Lionel ES44AC non-hybrid engine. I need to repair a screen on the left side, that was pushed into cab shell (probably, by packer's finger while putting engine in carton) and can only be reattached from the inside. I am not sure if the entire shell can be removed in one piece or if the cab and various side covers and steps need to be removed individually. Would prefer to remove body shell in one piece so the railings are not affected by the repair. Thanks.

I am a expert in this I have repaired several hand rails on these.. You just remove 8 screws . The  two in the front  the two next to the gas tank on both sides and the two in the rear. Do not remove the gas tank ones. The shell should just come off then..Next there should be two wires (grey) Connected to a wire nut. Remove the wire nut and the shell should be free. If you get any resistance removing it make sure the boards are not hanging up on the shell .. I had one that did and it was not fun to remove.. Even though the shell is in 3 pieces the frame holds them all together ..So it removes in one piece..

Thanks for the info, I was looking for this same info and ran across this after my post. It was a very easy procedure to perform.
