I put this Loco on my layout and have about 4 hours track time on it. I bought it new some years ago. The smoke unit stoped working. Will MTH repair the smoke unit? The Loco runs great and have the LM Sound control. I have replaced smoke wicks in the old A.F. locomotives. I don't know a thing about this new stuff.

Measure the element before tackling dissasembly of the loco.

It should read 5 ohms between 12 and 14 in the tender with the loco plugged into the tender.

The loco a very fragile and delcate dissassembly.

There used to be a page on the loco dissassembly on the SHS site but it is gone now.
