Hi Folks,

I thought I'd share some pics of my upcoming backdrop project. Backdrops are scenery, right...

The sky painting mural backdrop is going to be a major element of my Standard Gauge tinplate layout. I have been painting in oil since childhood with landscapes and skyscapes a big part of my work. I'll spare toy train enthusiasts any "art speak", but a lot of thought and design work have gone into the basic composition... Be aware that the pics show only the rough study done in pencil and house paint. The finished mural will have a much more complex color arrangement and be in oil on canvas.

Any feedback (+ or -) is welcome.

Thanks for looking.

Bert

FYI:

The dark vertical lines indicate panel seams.

For scale, the backdrop is 15 feet wide.

The cardboard cutout is a silhouette of the layout buildings.

The skyscraper is this prewar tunnel.
