I appreciate guidance but hoping to get focused on as close to fact as possible.  Also, I'm not feeling very happy about my D--- A-- move, so I appreciate in advance if we don't address that, lesson learned.

I have one of the new MTH RK C630s.  One of my diesels had thrown traction tires and I thought it was that unit.  I turned it over to check not remembering it had smoke fluid in it.  when I put it back on rail, smoke unit off, smoke started emanating from the bottom of the frame/wheel area.

I took it off immediately, it had been running fine.

1. Must it be dis-assembled and cleaned??? or should fluid dissipate / burn off?

2. If fluid got on electronics (probably not the first time to happen) is there likely to be a negative affect?

No huge issues with the fluids usually other than the mess as ling as you are using the big name brands.

It likely spilled onto something else kinda hot.

You can spray things clean withCRC electronic (found "anywhere") contact cleaner (minding paints) or mop up other ways. Maybe let gravity do some drip work, etc.

Wiping board edges well is a good idea in case edges aren't sealed type or edge was missed, etc. (that might effect laminated board long term cohesiveness.. would likely stll work though.)

It has been reported that smoke fluid on the Lionel RCMC has killed the board.  I hasten to add that I always suspected that it was something else that kills them, not sure how some mineral oil should kill the board, but that's what Lionel has stated more than once.

Yes. I remember that about when the Vision Big Boy came out and there were some issues. I put my Fluke meter probes into a pool of smoke fluid and the reading was absolutely infinite ohms. Just to check. I've done that with laboratory grade distilled water and gotten about 10 megohms. So not even that much conductivity.

I think Lionel was quick to blame the customer for their failed boards. Not uncommon with companies.
