Yeah, I agree.  I'm not sure there is much value for you to upgrade there, maybe just pick up a Base3 and use it with your current set up.  I had a special use case since I'm moving from Conventional control into Legacy.  For me the cost / space savings over picking up 180 Bricks and Power Masters for each of my loops vs the ZW-L made purchasing the ZW-L worth it.

I think if you are command only, it's probably not the most cost effective solution, but it's a terrific piece of expensive toy train eye candy nonetheless. . Hard to overstate it's aesthetic appeal to my way of thinking.  The Z-4000 was an impressive transformer visually, but the ZW-L takes this to the next level, in my view.

Yes, I agree entirely. That aesthetic appeal is certainly a major draw. Hard to resist its siren call.
