I wasn't  sure where to post this. Hope this is the right place. As my collection grew,  so did the number of manuals.  I've  put many of my post-war sheets/manuals  in clear plastic sheet protectors in a 3-ring bider. That's worked OK for the single sheet manuals but not so much for the manuals that have been published for TMCC/Legacy/Vision line engines, etc.  The 8.5x11 sheet protectors simply don't work well for that format. So I currently have the manuals stacked in a small  box about the size of the manuals.  It's OK,  but I'd rather use a booklet or pamphlet size binder with same size plastic pouches, e.g., like those used to store CDs for these  manuals. It would make access so much easier and much easier to organize. However, I haven't been able to find anything that would meet those  specs and I do  not want to punch holes in the manuals.  I was wondering how others store the manuals and whether anyone  knows where I might find what I'm looking for.  I've searched Amazon and the office supply sites...no luck. I'm not sure if they even exist or maybe may search terms are hosed up. Believe me, I am not an organization freak, one only needs look at my desk and 'fix it' bench, but, this problem bugs me.  Funny what bugs you after you've been retired for a few years.  Thanks.

I have a four drawer file cabinet with hanging folders. Train papers such as catalogs, instruction sheets, and pamphlets (instruction manuals) are place in a manila folder, which is then placed in a hanging folder.
I usually use one mania folder per catalog, and three folders per hanging folders.
I usually put multiple instruction sheets per manila folder.

I also use the file cabinet to hold papers on my tools and household infrastructure (things like the furnace and roof).

Mine is letter sized, if I was buying one today, I'd go for legal.

I do keep my Lionel service station papers in "D" ring binders. Most are not in any sort of page protectors. Some of the papers, mostly items that aren't three hole punched, are in page protectors.

I use Staples 5.5 x 8.5 3 ring binders and Avery sleeves. One for locos, one for accessories and one for rolling stock

Sounds like a good idea, I may also try that. I think I may have a couple of the smaller binders, might just need some sheet protectors. I currently use the letter size binders for everything, not ideal for some things as has been mentioned already.
