Today at the Murnane house I have my PRR Ready Made Toys (RMT) BANG S-4 ready for switching duty.

Note the box has Pennsylvania spelled wrong, maybe that is why they are going out of business? ;-)

RMT 92315 PRR/Pennsynanaia (yes, they spelled it wrong on the box) #8433 BANG ALCO S-4 Diesel Locomotive

Also note, I'm considering letting this one go to a new home as it gets pretty much zero track time here at my house, so if you are interested in it please make an offer (in private, via email please)!  I've never actually sold a switcher before but I've got something else in mind which I'm trying to fund.

Please enjoy your weekend, and if you get a chance post some pictures/videos/stories of your favorite switchers!

Best...Rich Murnane

p.s. Miss the post on Saturday? NO BIG DEAL, just keep posting pictures of your favorites until the next #SwitcherSaturday

Hello, Rich and a very Happy Switcher Saturday to everyone. My contribution to this week's thread was inspired by MNCW Tom's picture of the AGEIR box cab which served as the Ingersoll-Rand Phillipsburg, NJ plant switcher last week. One of the pieces of equipment  I am proudest to own is the MTH model of the AGEIR box cab.

As many are aware, the Central Railroad of New Jersey 1000 is generally accepted to have been the first commercially successful diesel locomotive in America. Built in 1925, the 1000 served dutifully at the CNJ off-line Bronx Terminal into the 50s until aging issues began to hamper its reliability and the Bronx assignment was taken over by a second hand two axle Davenport unit acquired from the US Army. The 1000 subsequently spent its final days working around Communipaw and Elizabethport prior to a well deserved retirement and donation to the B&O Museum in Baltimore

Here are a few shots of the 1000 working my freight yard. Note Train Master 2410 preparing to head west with a freight for Allentown on the next track.

Hey guys Happy SWSat!

We are off to a good start again this week as usual. This week I am going to post some images of very early 1930's GE/IR Switchers.  I was grouping these together because of some exterior design cues like the little hood that projects over the end hood. Also the loovers  on the hood sides are interesting they look like they are all separate and can move in and out.

Because of this thread, I dug out my junkbox 203  and put it back together.  It runs great even with a bent axle.  It needs marker lights and side rods, but I got it, as a set, in a huge lot with a 1965 Sears 2347 C&O Geep for about $160 plus shipping.  I wanted that 2347 bad and this was just the icing on the cake. In the pictures, I am cheating with a 1615 tender, but I did get the 2203B that came with the 203, I just need to get it back into running shape as well.  It's pulling a string of cardboard sided boxcars with late prewar trucks added.100_3877100_3879100_3878

Nice RF&P engines. On the second pic is that the three stooges in the cab?

Andy/SILVERLAKE,

The Stooges? I was partial to the Bowery Boys (who are on TCM now). I see there is a rerailing frog hanging on the tender.

Tom:

I love the historical images of the rerailing frog.....priceless. Thanks for posting that.

Hey Rich - You may want to think twice and hang on to that box with the misspelling.  It may worth several hundred bucks down the road.... this seems to be the only hobby where items with mistakes such as misspellings are considered collectable and demand bigger bucks several years down the road ...  Just kidding of course. :-)  I hope you get a good buck for your Bang!

Thanks for keeping this post going!  I look forward to it each week!!  Have a great weekend too!
