Mr. Z seems to be otherwise detained today so here we go.....

For those unfamiliar with this weekly thread, Switcher Saturday is where we celebrate the smaller locomotives that work the docks,  yards, car shops,  industrial plants and even pull double duty working freight all week and pulling tourist trains on the weekend.

The only requirements asked are that we keep things somehow Switcher related,  follow the Ogr tos regarding pictures,  and have fun. Switcher Saturday is and has always been open to all scales and gauges, with a heavy dose of O gauge of course.

I'll start off with a shot of my Menards F7 # 3490 getting ready for today's commuter runs. After they clear the yard, LIRR 599 (MTH PS2) on track two can begin their day's switching jobs.

Hope everyone has a good weekend. No snow here on LI but a bit icy this morning.

With all the snow, I took the opportunity to sort through some stuff that has accumulated through the years.  I came across some photos of a family vacation to St. Louis we took over 20 years ago.  I found this picture of the Army gas turbine switcher at the National Museum of Transportation and my first thought was "Switcher Saturday!"

Just for comparison, here is a photo of my Lionel model.

Greetings from a very windy SoCal everyone.
I wanted to share with you my latest layout improvement, some flat rock formations by “Woodland Scenics. “
These come in several configurations in convenient six-packs ready to be detailed or just placed on the layout w/o alteration.
What you see here is the unchanged castings straight from the box.
I have several others placed around my layout and they give a rugged terrain look to my desert-to-mountain theme.
The pieces are also cut to fit together side by side if you wish, but I used them individually.
If you have a mountain railroad, I recommend these ready-to-use forms highly. The hardest part is simply placing them so they look realistic!

And a package has a MSRP of just $25!

(To keep the switching theme here, that’s my new MTH Railking SW1 in Great Northern livery in the background.)    DC7C2B61-37DF-4F96-9A80-B6432E40567C

Hey, anyone heard from JHZ? Hope he’s ok and just sleeping in after a fun night out with the kids.

I'm Alive,  just exhausted.   Its been a long  few days at work, orchestrating repairs to a 4000 hp fan.  I appreciate you asking about me.

Here's me and some other in the bearing tunnel last night.

And the discharge end of the same fan, about 18' across on the inside diameter.   It was misbehaving and needed some serious attention.

To keep it Switcher related, more archive shots....

Well SwSat Fans, I am a little late today, catching up around the house just took up the day and time flew!  So here are a couple of pictures from my (very small) Hornby collection. Most of the Hornby that I have is not much more than 0-4-0 either tank type or tender, so I believe they qualify under jhz's rules.  By the way jhz glad you are OK and just busy, fixing that huge fan must have been an interesting though tiring job.

So here is the LMS (London, Midland,&Scotland) hard working tank engine (clockwork)  with a small train just exiting the depot.

Here is a short branch line passenger train, in command of the Hornby Type 51 British Rail (post nationalization)  tender locomotive (clockwork).

Best wishes for the rest of the weekend
