Anyone have any suggestions for train attractions or hobby stores in Sydney. I'm fortunate enough to be able to make the trip for a few days starting the 26th and wanted to see if there way anything in particular that's recommended. Thanks!

You really need to get in touch with forum member Dave Allen...an in-the-know Aussie who I'm sure will be able to provide a lot of guidance. He lives in Woy Woy, which is in New South Wales (as is Sydney).
Check the "Merry Christmas from Australia" thread--on this page to perhaps the second page. You'll find his e-mail address in his profile.
Hi Alex and have fun in Sydney.
If you want to experience a pleasant and quick rail journey out of Sydney, you can't do better than catch an Interurban train from Sydney Central station to the Central Coast, where I live, about an hour or so north of Sydney, though some very pretty bushland and waterways. While at Central, visit the Railway Bookshop run by the Rail Transport Museum. They have a great Museum at Thirlmere, southwest of Sydney, here is the website. http://www.nswrtm.org/
There are no O gauge train shops in Sydney to speak of.
If you do happen to come up the coast, email me, and I'll meet you at Woy Woy station and will be happy to buy you a beer.
Depending on the days you are in Sydney, I might be able to take you to my train club in Sydney, AMRA. http://www.amra.asn.au/nsw.htm

Hi Dave,
Thanks for all the recommendations! I'll be sure to send you an email when I see if there's a possibility of fitting something into the itinerary. Thanks again!
