I want that.  Send me an email for my address (email in my profile).  I will pay for shipping.

Seriously, that is a great find.  Most models are center cupola N6b.  This is the first end cupola I have seen, plus it is an N6a.  I need to find one ASAP.

Ron,

I am always on the hunt for PRR brass that is in my budget.  If I run across another one, I'll be sure to send it your way.  There was an 8 wheel ND cabin that went for more than my budget, but it would have been a fun one to have too.  Not sure on the manufacturer of that one.

This is my second O scale Alco cabin.  My first 2 rail piece was an Alco New Haven NE-5 going back nearly 20 years now.  I also have an HO brass N6b.  I do not know the manufacturer.

Also found this little Saginaw cast caboose.  Same Saginaw that made the PRR E6, G5, and H10.

I ran two New York Central 35-foot wood cabooses – #19654 (MTH Railking 30-7721 delivered in 2000 at MSRP $39.95) and #19877 (MTH Premier 20-91790 delivered in 2023 at MSRP $84.95) behind a short freight train powered by NYC Alco RS-3 #8223 on my 12’-by-8’ layout. I enjoyed watching these two ancient cabooses trundling along at the tail end of the train with a conductor on the rear platform.

Well, I thought I might take us WAY BACK this Tuesday, nearly a century or more.  The Lionel #152 motor dates from 1917 to 1927 with this dark green version with the strap headlight being a 1917 version.  The caboose #801 also from 1917 era fills in for my T.E.T. post.

Happy Tuesday everyone!

P.S. Take a look at this picture full size...see where our hobby came from. She is an ancient warrior but still ticking!

Maybe some of you know that I aways say the era of my layout is either late 40s or 1949.  It was originally set in 1949 but there were several items that I liked that did not quite make it to 1949 like the HH1, L2 and Q1.  I just tell folks that they lived a little longer on my layout.

One rail car that is obviously wrong is my N8 cabin which is marked as new in 2-50, the year they were first built.  I got it as part of a set, and I really like this style and it gives me something different than all the N5 and N6 cabins out there.  Haven't come up with a plausible story for this one yet.

@CAPPilot,

Ron,

If you're willing to do it, the easiest solution is to change the build date on that very nice N8 to 2-49. Either that, or just say that the car was built in 12-49 but someone got ahead of themselves and stenciled it 2-50...

Like you I thought about changing 50 to 49, which will work for 99.9% of the folks who see the model.  I also thought about it being a prototype that got release before production.  I may go with the number change.

While the Pennsy had a lot of N5 and N6 cabins, it would be nice if a current manufacturer would make something other than the N5c or N6b.  Lionel did do a run of N5b cabin in 2016 with its square windows; wouldn't mind seeing another run.  I am sure most other forum members also wish there were more caboose choices for their favorite railroad.

Great model and beautiful photos too! You gotta like the Lehigh Valley!!

Thanks for the kind words, Malcolm.  That’s high praise coming from you!  Not sure if you’re still doing custom builds for customers, but I’d still like to get a couple northeastern cabooses someday to add to my “Brother Love” collection.  Lehigh Valley would certainly be one of them!

Painter Bob appears again. Never one to pass up an opportunity to paint a landscape, Painter Bob hitches a ride on the Burlington Northern to capture the passing scenery (must be somewhere along the Mississippi Palisades as that is about the only location with rock walls at the rail line in Illinois).

Thanks to MTH and @Berwyns Toys and Trains for my new bay window BN caboose.

My tail end today is the Marx "Deluxe" (note this is a collector term commonly used by collectors but never used by Marx) ALLSTATE work caboose with searchlight from 1955.  This version (there are 4) has white lettering and Type F plastic overlay trucks.  Other versions have plain sheet metal side frame trucks and yellow lettering.

OBTW all you folks in the NE and in the Rockies where its snowing, its 82 degrees here in central Texas!!

Best wishes

Don
