I have had Lionel 6-19897 NYC X-13 TMCC Operating Crane Car on my layout for several years and it has been working great.  Love it!

While operating it (with the Legacy controller) in a low light condition recently I noticed a white blinking light in the rear of the cab.  Is this some kind of error code?  I do not see anything in the manual about an error codes.  Since everything seems to be operating properly is there a way to reset it?

It occurs to me that if you are only seeing this flicker at low light levels it might be something from one of the lights mounted on the crane reacting to control signals, which is not actually meant to be seen. I was puzzled about why one of the LEDs on my crane failed after a not very long period of use and I suppose the reason might have been unstable/inconsistent power supply. These LEDs are bulb shaped and may even be ceramic; in any case they are a much earlier design than what I think is commonly used today.

But if the operating features of the crane are working it would not be worth trying to investigate further. There are comprehensive wiring diagrams for the TMCC cranes on Lionel’s manual/support website which will give you a fair idea of how complicated the board/motor/lighting electronics are!
