Here's the track work that was done Saturday in about five hours. We went with Atlas Track. The underground yard at the end will have two more lay ups added, totaling five. There will be two more long lay ups added to the inside of the long run enabling the lay up of four - six car BMT sets. The two high speed switches are for the ramps that will go to the grade level. The corners were cut on purpose so we can add curved wood undweneath the track giving the bench work a more custom look. So, the lower level will have four stations; three close to the edge and one located behind 34 Street in the back. The ramps will be visable from the botton so the trains will be seen climbing them.


I started with the double crossover and worked out in both directions. This long run will have a large platform (34 St) and a switching tower at the right end before the switch.

The other side of the switch will be the switching tower and 34 Street platform.

This is the right hand side where the undergound yard housing 5 tracks with be. The lay up tracks are isolated not to draw power from the main lines. We noticed a problem when we made the LIONEL Subway videos on Greg's lay out. The doors were whiney and slow when the lay up trains were drawing power.

Right hand end before lay ups. I started with the front two tracks so the train and platform for the second station would be all the way at the front edge and worked toward the back.

Hello everyone its almost 4 months since Sandy hit and yesterday for the first time I had trains running in my basement once again. I'd like to "Thank Brian(MCD4X4),Greg Orlando and all those who made it possible to start this up again. Although I still have a long way to go at least I am on the right "Track". Thank you all again for all those donations which help made this possible once again.

Hey guys  Sorry I didn't have time to come up with a track plan  Have a couple of questions  You said you have drops every 15 feet and ran it only using two  Did you isolate the middle rails?  How did it run without all the drops connected if you do?  If the middle rail isn't isolated you might have signal problems or when you press a sound button you might hear the announcement twice. 

How will you have access to those tracks when the upper level is installed?

Not liking that little s turn going into the yard   Switch should have been on the first curve with main route going into yard.
