Well Patrick recently has been taking us back to snow season, so I thought I might join in and provide a "cool" picture to give us some relief from this blazing heat.  Here are some snowy scenes from Holiday time, featuring some carolers, a snoman, and a very famous figure.

Best Regards

Christmas Train 2021 [2)

Hey Don!  A scene doesn't get any cooler than the one you show us here!  I'm putting on my sweater!

Well here it is, Trackside Thursday already.  Even though I ended last week's post I am going to start this weeks off with a scene from the shopping hub of "Small Town" the suburban hub of my Leonardtown and Savannah. This little town lies just outside the city of Savannah, Ga with it's huge container port and historic old town.  Every day (during the week) the citizens of Small Town take the commuter trains into Savannah to work at the factories or on the wharf moving or making things for the rest of the world.   Today is a weekend and the folks are out in the center of town doing their shopping and maybe stopping at McDonald's for a quick lunch or breakfast.

Hey even the town's raccoons are stopping by McDonald's for a quick snack.

Best Wishes everyone...show us some of your trackside scenes!

Great pictures everyone!

@DOC- I bet landing that P-51 on top of Frank's Bar was a tough job

@Randy Harrison - Neat town scene, loved that "cooking school" bldg.

@trumpettrain- Wow Patrick, your scene has so many people and things in it - it just feels like a busy world out there.

@leapinlarry - Larry your layout is just fabulous, loved all the pictures.  Thanks for posting.

Best wishes everyone

Don

Well TsTh fans here we area approaching the end of another week.  Today, things are getting busy around the depot on the Leonardtown and Savannah, as Lionel #241 has in hand the local mixed freight while it awaits the departure of the commuter train picking up passengers from the rear platforms to head to work.  The folks in the diner are enjoying their morning coffee and the driver of that Starbucks truck intends to make sure that the diner does not run out of coffee.  The neighborhood folks at the counter are giving "Handsome Harry" a terrible ribbing about his new (to him) red Cadillac coupe.  This late 40's model, in bright red, was just purchased by Harry at Sleazy Sam's Used Cars.  The neighbors say that Harry, a retired plumber, has no business driving a "fancy man's" car but Harry says...it had low milage and was cheap (besides he likes the color).

Best wishes to all, hope your week is going well...looking forward to the weekend.

@Mark Boyce - Excuse me Mark, but I think you have the 3rd yellow wire that is near the red / blue wires soldered to the wrong connector    ... obviously only kidding, I don't have any idea what I am talking about.  What are you doing ?

Cool picture anyway

Don

Don, you’re right!  Those yellow wires are easily mixed up!  😄

The engine is a 25-year old MTH originally equipped with ProtoSound (PS) It basically ran conveniently but had sound and minimal lighting.  I am upgrading it to PS3 to run using a handheld remote with more features.  Basically I had to remove everything inside except the motors and replace with a new circuit board, LEDs, speaker, and couplers.

I posted as a joke as that is really all I have trackside.

@Mark Boyce - Hey thanks Mark. This new electronic stuff mystifies me, I'm an old "2-wires and a ZW guy" .  Thanks for posting and being part of the thread.

Don

Yes Don, I was the same until a hobby shop owner demonstrated the MTH DCS system to me about 10 years ago.  I was hooked.  It may help that I am a retired electronics technician, and later engineer.  I’m not afraid of it.  My tendency is to keep things as simple as possible unless I understand it.

Thank you for asking the question.  I’ll post some basic trackside photographs in future weeks.

Well here we are at TsThur again and so far the day has been hot and disappointing. I drove my usual morning route (cooler before 9) and there were NO trains, so I can't put in a 1: 1 shot today.  So its back to trackside along the Leonardtown and Savannah, my fictional layout RR.

Much to the annoyance of Officer Sullivan, (Small Town's entire police force) the local switch job is tying up downtown traffic and delaying him getting to McDonald's for his morning coffee.  He will get a chance to take a good look at that brand new 1955 Chevy Nomad wagon as it passes him by however and that is the envy of the neighborhood.  Sure, I know there is a Jaguar convertible / roadster up further but you know, that is one of them weird "furren" cars, nobody really wants one of them.

Best wishes for Thursday everyone.

Bob's market just across the street from the Paradise train depot has been adding on to the building, and they're a bit short on space inside. The contractor, Melvin Hammer, needs some additional space to continue work for a few days and asked Bob if he could make room. Bob decided he could accommodate Melvin and make room by moving some of the produce out to the sidewalk and have a sidewalk sale. Bob called a couple of his stock boys to come over and help for a few hours during the afternoon, as they normally work in the evenings. Bob lured them in by some under the table pay$. A couple of passenger trains rolled in, so hopefully those arriving will come on by and take advantage of the sale.

At least the neighbors dog that has escaped isn't peeing on the produce!!!!

The Santa Fe Chief and the Southern Pacific Sacramento Valley Daylight have arrived at the same time, the Chief is early! It's about to get very busy!

Happy Thursday Everyone!

Trackside on the Free State Junction Railway for this fine Thursday! IMG_1763IMG_1770

Hello Patrick, you're little 0-4-0 tank engine is one of my favorites on your layout, he has real character, a little like a junkyard dog that needs love and attention. Just looking at the little guy tells a story. I don't know if you have ever named him, but I see him as Crusty Rusty.

Have a great Thursday!!!

Great weathering job!

The local trolley heads back into town from the wharf industrial area after dropping off a load of workers for the area's industries and to help unload the shipments from all over the world.  In the background, Buzz Smith, gets gas in his pick up so that he can get on home after his night shift as a security guard on the docks.  Old "Buzz" got his nickname because he always seems to show up for shift with a "buzz on", his friends keep telling him its gonna get him fired (or hurt) some day but Buzz just don't seem to care.

Happy Track side Thus everyone.  Best Wishes

Thanks Scott for the kind words and the name " Crusty Rusty", which is perfectly fitting for the 0-4-0 Docksider!   The Docksider that is featured in my post today is actually one I weathered for a friend.  My own 0-4-0 Docksider ( B&O ) which is heavily weathered too,  and going forward will be referred to as  " Crusty Rusty" thanks to you!
