I seldom post in this forum so excuse me if this has appeared before. Something you don't see every day: whole buncha retired SD40-2's probably headed for the National Railway Equipment Co. loco rebuild shop at Silvis, IL. So if you're in the market for a 1:1 scale SD40-2 get that petty cash shoebox out of the hall closet and call NREC.

My 2nd/3rd generation diesel recognition skills are very poor but... After doing a little homework and watching the vid again it appears most if not all of those UP units were indeed SD45T-2's, probably ex-SP units. Good call fredswain!  You can see the units have been renumbered at some point, but I'll let the UP geeks ponder that stuff.

"NREX" (National Railway Equipment Co.) reporting marks were spray-painted on the cabs, something else I didn't notice earlier.

Update: Greg, just saw your post, thanks for the correct info.
