Don't preorder if your in a hurry. However if it's an item you really want you better order that way. My favorite train store orders are based on preorder.

Example 10 were preordered, the store orders 15, so by the time the item arrives all 15 may already be sold and never reach the store shelve. Of course you can always hope that the big mail order stores have extras.

Your 1st comment is in the back of my mind and I am taking it into account, that is why I posted this.

Since I have not given a deposit, I can cancel anytime.

My real problem is that since this has not arrived, I find myself buying other items that I might not have purchased if this arrived when expected. Next thing you know, another grand down ...

When I pre-order an item and the dealer doesn't require a deposit, I do my own lay-away plan.  I put some cash into an envelope each month until I have enough to pay for the item when it arrives.  This way I am not spending money for the pre-order that I might not otherwise have.  I also have the money for the item when it does arrive.  Joe

I feel your pain. I pre-ordered last January for something that was to be shipped in June. Then it was changed to December. What the heck is going on with MTH?

My LHS does not ask for deposits and I am thinking of cancelling it and look for something else ... that's in stock.

Since I have never pre-ordered before, I'm not sure of the protocol ... is it OK to cancel or will the world end.

This is what I ordered ...
