I am posting on here on behalf of my dad who is not computer savvy, but is a retired electrician so complex feedback will not be an issue. We purchased for Christmas a Lionel Post War Celebration Series Operating Horse car and corral set, in never used condition. I state this, as I, know these units came out some time ago and having never been worked, things do sometimes go bad. The instructions provided do not show how to hook this car up to Fastrack, so my father went about on his own to connect it, using Frastrack Operating track. The entire operation worked at first, although it was rather loud and the horses seem to have a hard go of it without falling over. My dad was put off by the fact that the unload/uncouple button had to be held down constantly in order for it to work. After only a few times around, the doors on the operating car stopped opening. The track vibrated softly and the horses moved in a more control fashion, but useless, with no where to go. When depressing the bar inside the operating car, the doors would open, only as long as the bar was being held, and cause a very violent electrical sound. I went on Lionels page and found the upgraded instructions for fastrack, which called for basically disconnecting everything from the operation track, (what was the point of buying it?) beyond one wire. Following those instructions still did nothing to fix the problem. Can someone please help us trouble shoot this before something gets fried out or damaged. We have the operating reindeer car and corral on the way and would like to get this righted before attempting to hook up that. Thank you all so much for your assistance.

We tried that and the horses then wouldnt move at all.  Its almost as if we can only get performance out of one item at a given moment. (either the doors open on the car and the horses dont move, or the horses move perfect and the car doors wont open.) Ive noticed that there is a lot of tweaking and fine tuning that is required for these to operate smoothly. Once my dad is done being unoccupied, I can provide more detail as to how he has this set up. Thanks for your patients.
