The Lionel layout at the JRM Museum at the Arkansas and Missouri Railroad sports a ten foot long bump and go line: 

Every so often, I get a wisenheimer visitor ask if the people in the trolley don't get whiplash, so I addressed the issue in typical MMM style:

The layout features operating accessories for the kiddies.

Working air whistle in the station:

Crossing gate and semaphore:

Manual crossbuck and bell, wired to flash when the button is pressed and released:

And, of course, the star of the show, "Little B****rd":

L.B. got his name when a co-worker pressed the button.  She proceeded to jump back about two feet and said, "OH!  You little B****RD!!!"   Not sure if she meant the gateman or me...
