I have the same topic/message five times in the 'like' mode with a pink heart.
How can I 'unlike' those settings?

Visit alerts next to sign-in avatar. That will clear those.
Next, stop providing useful or interesting information in your posts.
Just click on them to "UNLIKE" them.

Under edit your profile, notifications area, scroll down a little- you can turn-off being notified about those "likes" by unchecking the boxes.
Why don't you like being liked?
Good question. I thought when you clicked on the like it meant you were appreciating the post and agreed with it???? I did not know it was annoying to someone. Do I have this wrong?
How do you expect your Community Ranking number to get lower if you don't click a few "likes" or have someone "like" your thread? 
To "unlike" click on the thread name you liked (The one with the pink heart). It should open up to the posters comment that you liked. Click unlike.
I think I'm going to click "Like this Topic" and see what happens to my score.
