Warning: I am a rookie.... bear with me....

I am building a O Gauge layout using Gargraves flexible track and Ross Custom switches. I love the look of all of the 1945 - 1960's Lionel switches and I have purchased a couple 022C-1 switches that are in great condition. Can they be used for switching the Ross 101 switches with the DZ1000 switch machine instead of the small button controller they sell with it? I am also wondering if there is a way to use the 022C-1 switches as a basic switch to turn a block section on and off ? If this is a silly idea, is there a Lionel switch from that same era that you can recommend using for block sections ?

Thank You everyone! Electrical is my weakness, but I am learning slowly.

They should work the Ross switches. They are the same thing as two push buttons just in one housing. Note that you will have to change the light bulbs in the controller to LEDs. The incandescent bulbs will not work. LED replacements are available from web suppliers. Lionel made a switch for turning accessories on and off. It has a black plastic housing and a sliding handle. I've forgotten the Lionel part number but a web search should find some.

However, be aware the wiring polarity of the DZ1000 involves using LEDs that are electrically oriented differently in the circuit.  DZ1000 current flowing one way lights the red, and opposite flow lights the green.  Have verify how replacement LEDs are wired and what voltage they light up on.  Replacements should have a built in rectifier for AC operation and may/may not light correctly on the DZ1000 DC power, depending how the LED was wired in with respect to screw shell and solder tip.
