They dismantled it. I was passing through Portland a few days before Christmas last year and found out about it. Bought a couple books and some Kato stuff. They were supposed to do a large final run around the new year, and then remove it completely by the end of January. I grew up in the area and actually had a couple buildings on the layout. I hope they went to a good home.
I'm glad I got to see the layout running (with mostly GN equipment incidentally) during the 2004 NP GN and SP&S historical society conventions. I just asked if I could see it running and someone went down and started it up.
I went by on Saturday. The new owner was renovating the building and has a medical supply Co lined up to rent it. And all the basement is going to be used for is storage.
But both of the original signs are still hanging outside!
