The Virginian ran 2 passenger trains, #3 westbound and #4 eastbound, on each of 2 divisions from the 30's until the mid to late 50's.  These trains were all coaches.  There were a few more passenger trains in the early 30's.  In any event, the Shenandoah Limited is fantasy.

I'm a Pennsy guy, but a good friend models the VGN in HO.  This information is from him.

The Virginian's coaches were green as well.   At the end of passenger service what coaches there were, were N&W due to a court order that the cars be air conditioned.  Virginian opted to lease for a short period instead of buying to meet the court order.

Also Virginian never had a blue and yellow paint scheme, that was started by Lionel in the 1950s.  The Virginians diesels were black and yellow
