I can be long-winded so in short I'm having to send my Big Boy to Lionel for repair.  Details are as follows:

Great forum!  Found this site while trying to research a problem I'm having with my 2023 Vision Line Big Boy I purchased from Legacy Station upon arrival.  Beautiful machine.  Really impressive performance and features.  We now have a Lionel retail store here in Nashville so I was able to pick up the UP passenger cars for it to haul.  Those have been great too, particularly the station sounds car.

I have two loops of Fastrack that are both powered by a Lionel 180W brick that is connected to a Lock-On and then via bus to the track with connections every 3 feet.  Legacy Command Set is connected to the Lock-On as well.  I tested each section with my multimeter and show consistent voltage.  One loop is 72" radius and I have a Legacy Greenbrier and passenger cars running on it.  The second loop is 84" radius with the Big Boy and passenger cars.

All the trains run (ran) beautifully and are stunning.  One feature I love about the Legacy equipment is putting the locomotives in Sequence Control.  On Saturday I created my first lash-up with the Big Boy and the station sounds car in order to enable Sequence Control for the station sounds car.  Doubt this had anything to do with my issue it was simply the last thing that happened.  All trains were running fine for a minute or so when the Big Boy suddenly came to a halt.  A dead stop.  I suspected it had derailed but it had not.  It was simply stalled on the track and has not functioned since.  When I turn on the brick the number boards light up and the tender startup and idle sounds come on but the engine is otherwise unresponsive.  I tried reprogramming and resetting to no avail.  If I go to the Bluetooth App it does not show as an available engine while all others do.  I've called Lionel Service and it is going back for repair.  I'm not here to bash or whine, as stuff happens.  But I'll be honest it gives me the heebie jeebies.

Primarily just wanted to document this here in case there were any thoughts or others who have had this issue.  Thanks!  -Clay

Hi Clay,  welcome to the Forum.  Most of us found this place becuse of an issue.  I seem to recall seeing the wire issue that Ron mentioned, but can't find the thread.  I did see one thread on the lack of grease. I think you did the right thing on sending it back.  Keep us posted.

Perhaps change the title on your post to indicate it is the "2023 Vision Line Big Boy Issue - engine unresponsive"   or something like that.  You might get more eyes on it.  Best, Dave
