I just updated my blog with a posting dedicated to describing the techniques developed by Lee Turner. He is an accomplished modeler who has been working on 1/4" scale models. All of his work is done with water-based paints and washes.

Tell me about that car - is it steel sheeting under the diagonals? Lee does superb work, and even better photography.

The SP rebuilt many of their B-50-15 and B-50-16 with steel sheathing replacing the original wood siding. The steel was welded to the exterior posts. You may see holes in the post flanges were the original carriage bolts held the wood sheathing.

The car was built a Chooch kit that was made from my patterns.

A read a great article where he described some of his techniques. The finished model was incredible.
