For today, i have just one photo of a scene I recently finished on the layout. Here we see an image of a PRR passenger train headed east over the Juniata River near Spruce Creek...

Every year for the past thirty years we have run a Christmas Train in front of our house:

This is a Lionel "North Pole Express" set headed up by an 0-4-0 engine.   It is crossing over a Bachman G gauge crossing gate with working gates, flashing lights, and a ringing bell.  The box car is an LGB car that produces a chuffing sound, just to add to the thrill.

This train has survived rain, wind, ice, sleet and snow.  It even survived my then 2 year old daughter knocking it off the track onto the sidewalk. Now her kids (aka our grandkids) enjoy it.  The train, crossing gates, and roadbed have been rebuilt countless times,  but it still runs about six hours a night.   The Lionel track was junk and discarded about twenty years ago in favor of LGB track.  That has held up very well.

The neighborhood kids love it, and soon after December 1st we get many "when are you putting up the train" inquiries.   Last year we added a gondola full of candy canes (not shown here) and added a sign inviting kids to help themselves.  The kids now love it even more.

DONE!  And just in time too.  6 weeks worth of building it.  376 wires!!!  Wires are a challenge on a floor layout especially if one wants to hide them as much as possible.  But patience can win out.

4 independent/non-connected sections of track, 2 command and 2 conventional.  3 reverse.  1 includes up and down ramps.

There are 29 or more stand alone scenes that I will post closeups of over time.

After a busy week of selling trees on North Main, the tree guy pulls away with his condo on wheels and turns over the cash box to his partner to finish out the season...sales are still brisk, and the warm streak of weather hasn't hurt tree sales for sure...

SIRT, beautiful weathering on those boxcars! I just realized your yard reminds me of the small yard right across from my childhood home on Hudson St. in Hoboken, right on the river across from Manhattan, that was used by the Hoboken Shore RR. There was a car float there that connected with the Lackawanna RR.

A new rug under the tree made me realize there is room for a third track !!!

Picked up two of the new Lionel roof hatch boxcars and decided to bring it back to its home rails. The boxcars, used for transporting Georgia clay to paper mills, is pictured here sitting on the rails in Charleston, TN on a siding leading to the Bowater Paper Mill in Calhoun, TN.Pretty cool to think this boxcar might have been on these rails 40 years ago.

Yes, a nice addition to the collection from Lionel. These were made years ago by I think by Buffalo Creek Graphics? - Weaver and have been rare over the years. I made a MILW barley car awhile back using Weaver covered hopper hatches.

Still waiting for combination door box cars in 40 & 50'. Hopefully they will be finally offered next?
