Went to the World's Greatest Hobby in Pomona. The picture of the Hindenburg belongs to Gary Jarvis who belongs to the AGTTA in San Diego. The Video is a smoke unit that they put in Model boats which was purchased by the SD3R Member Spencer Wood who bought it from Harbor Models. The unit will be inserted into our smoking building down the road. The last picture is what I got at the show and off The Milepost 38 Bargain Table. Cars came from the show from the Western Depot guys for a steal 3 for 10. And the Handcar from Milepost 38 for 20 dollars. Their Bargain Table has lots of treasures... I wish Milepost 38 was closer to home...

Alan, it's amazing in there. I was allowed because we were filming for them but it's never open to the public. Wish it were. Just walking around there is a wonderful experience. You can almost hear the sounds of live steam engines. DonDSC_0695DSC_0697

It is amazing how they reproduced 1:48 scale in 1:1 scale.  It really looks like a real model rail road.

I bought these cool postcards at the Transit Tees store in Chicago. They are postcards with CTA el cars you can cut out and build. If you buy two or more, they give you a free elevated track you can also build. They are N scale, but you could print enlarged versions in O scale.Transit Tees sells them on their website.Build Your Own Chicago makes and sells them.

That pretty cool. Went to the website. Too bad they don't have the 6000 series.

Really like this caboose. I had a friend of mine do the silver around the windows. Looks much better this way. Was very plain without it. 20170212_080451

This made a real neat cab albeit not prototypical.  The local toy train dealer in Charlotte did not stock it because it was not prototypical.  After I pickup the NS OCS F-units wanted one.  Took a year to fine on at a show new in box for $40.00.

The video above that starts with this scene...I like the Army boxcar that still has its "$20" price sticker on the door - or is it being offered for $20?

Some ingenuous GI trying to make an extra buck, after all $20.00 was alot of money in those days. Same guy who was also selling boxes of grid squares too unsuspecting privates.

Visited Forum member Larry Childers of Mauldin, SC today and had a first look at his basement layout. He has done a nice job with limited space and runs all full-scale Premiere trains with E8s in ACL, Southern, & Seaboard as ABBAs as well as a Seaboard F3 freight ABBA.

His primary road diesels are Southern & ACL running as 3 powered units each.

Here are a few shots I captured this afternoon

I lived in Mauldin S.C. from 1967-1977. My mom even worked for the Mauldin Police Department. I went to Mauldin High School from 1975-1977.  Is he related to any of the Childers that went to MHS in those years? I don't know which Larry he is on the forum.

I guess I never took the price sticker off.  .....I have 3 of these cars. I  bought one right when they came out, 17-18 years ago and the 2nd 2 were $20 deals picked up at York......sort of can't say "no" for $20!
