A favorite York find. This was on the floor under a dealers table next to Trainworld Friday evening all covered in dust. USA Trains Alco PA with a closed pilot. No box.... I asked to test it and it lit up and ran forward & reverse. For $100 it was hard to pass up!

Great photos this week lots of nice layouts.

Was at a small convention a while back and here are some photos of a nice layout. Garden railway in the back yard and O filling  a 2 car Garage.

Also saw this 1/50 0 scale truck at a diecast shop! Cool fine detail and only what was it $3-400.  Also inside of a Dome car being rebuilt interior update.

Okay.. very clever painting a cloud on the backdrop that doubles as steam for photo ops.  It looks GREAT.  I'm tucking that genius tip away - thank you!

The past, it is now lost forever.

There was a time when the land was sacred

and the ancient ones were as one with it.

A time when only the children of the great spirit were here to

light the fires in these places with no boundaries.

When forests were as thick as the fur of the winter bear.

When a warrior could walk from horizon to horizon

on the backs of the buffalo.

When deserts were in bloom and the streams,

pure as freshly fallen snow.

At that time,

when there were only simple ways.

I saw with my heart the conflicts to come.

And whether it was to be for good or bad.

What was certain was,

that there would be change.

Working on a scale reproduction of a tower from the old Joliet prison for my layout. This prison is one of the most historic buildings in Illinois.. and of course its rotting away. It was built in 1858 by inmates, including civil war prisoners.

I often think to myself how it would have been to be a prisoner here during the winter with no electricity, no heat... before the prison had windows... now thats what jail should be. The only link to civilization is hearing the whistle of a steam engine off in the distance....

I hope to finish this tower soon, I am almost done. I am making the top of the tower removable so I can display it as it looked in 1900 or how it looks today.

Rich Battista,

My son and I viewed part three of your series regarding your layout.  It's a superb video, and your editing skills rival your modeling abilities.  The shots comparing the NYC El to your own are fantastic!

Neal...thanks, glad you enjoyed it.  As always, great seeing at the show.  I look forward to seeing your layout some day.  Rich

Bill:

I love to see photos of your refinery. Please post more in the future.

The refinery is located at the far left corner. However none of the lights or new additions were added when this photo was taken. The Shell refinery parts arrived today so we should have it up and running soon.
