Now for something outdoors......

I have aver always been enthralled by pictures of trains crossing the Patapsco River on this bridge south of Baltimore........on the B&O Main Line between DC and Baltimore. It's called the Thomas Viaduct and the area is called Relay, Maryland.

I have seen glimpses of this bridge from the Harbor Tunnel Thruway many times, but never up close.

Last week, on my drive north, I got off of 95 to find it......it was less than a 10 minute trip.

It's really easy to find and see.

I was traveling all last week for week so I didn't get a chance to post anything. Good to be home & running some trains with the kids this week!

Really backed up on photos - just getting to these now - all from 2/28/15

NS ES44DC 7540 leads a coal drag through Lafayette, VA on the ex Virginian main, now the NS Whitethorne District

NS D9-44CW 9269 leads 15T westbound through the S curve at Shawsville, VA on the NS Christiansburg District -

Westbound NS 189 exits Montgomery tunnel on the NS Christiansburg District w/ D9-44CW 9406 on the point. As you can see, the clock has struck midnight for the classic N&W CPL signals. -

Bill T and Christopher,

I see you are both thinking Texas Special this week!  I like the look of F3s better than the ALCo PAs, however I had the chance to pick up a PA Texas Special pair a couple of weeks ago for a great price.  I bought them remembering a model train friend who passed away at 59 years of age after many years of debilitating illness.  Not long before his passing, his loving wife bought him a Texas Special engine because that was the first engine he had as a child, but it had been discarded many years before.

I thought I had a photo, but I see I don't.  I will have to get one when I get home and post it.

Bill T,

The K-Line streamlined set behind your F3s look great!  I probably won't buy a set unless something falls into my lap as the ALCos did.  Too many trains to choose from.  ;-)

I finally got my pictures processed after my trip to the Hi-Rail train Club in Griffith, IN.

I love this view of the siding leading to the grain elevator complex with their new steel mill in the background.

This layout has always been one of my favorites and hopefully these pictures will help explain why.

The National Capital Trackers took delivery of their 4th custom MTH car last night at the May membership meeting. This is an MTH 8,000 gallon tank car MTH customized for us.

Previously, we've done a caboose, boxcar, husky stack car, and now the tank car. Discussions about a custom painted MTH Evolution Hybrid diesel, complete with charging lights, are under way and that may just be our next MTH custom piece for club members.

Thanks to Tracker Mike Fistere who has led the charge for the custom car projects. Each one is just beautiful. I'm a sucker for tank cars so this will get a lot of run time.

I unboxed it and grabbed some iPhone photos before leaving for the office this morning.

Nice images.

Hope everyone has a safe weekend, but it isn't a "Happy Holiday" for all.
