Welcome to WEEKEND PHOTO FUN!!

I travel a bit for my business. Sometimes I get to take a photo or two when I get stuck at a traffic light.

This was a beautiful sight-we are starting to see long coal trains running through Roanoke again.

At the museum this week, we were able to unbox our latest train purchase from Trainworld. These were a bargain. The engines were $59.99 each and the passenger car was $21.99.

I also got to add some "Cars" to the kids level layout.

Let's see your picture.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Imagine it's 1969 and ALCo RS3 #1545 is fresh out of the paint shop dressed in the Jersey Central's "new-look" blue and yellow scheme inspired by parent company Baltimore & Ohio.  Heck, the trucks and fuel tank are still shiny black...not yet showing any signs of the heavy sand and grime typically associated with railroading in this hilly part of northeastern PA!

In fact, this new, blue look is such a departure from the CNJ's traditional Deep Sea Green, that several employees have gathered to check it out!

The locomotive is from Atlas O and the plywood-sheathed caboose was scratch-built by Forum member "Brother Love" and 3-rail scaled & weathered by me...

Planes, trains and automobiles.

Last weekend (July 15-16), the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, IL, hosted their annual Day Out With Thomas weekend event. While I’ve been there many times with my kids when they were young, this year’s “visit” was a unique experience.

Day Out With Thomas - July 2001, with my son and Dad

My son just received his private pilot’s license and wanted to take me up as his first passenger, a high honor indeed. When asked where we should go, I suggested IRM since his airport is fairly close to the train museum. So off we went. A perfect day for flying and for some train spotting – from above!

What a fun day. Celebrated with donuts afterward to commemorate the event.
